A Technical SEO Checklist for Modern Sites

Beautiful sites still need to be found. The technical checks we run on every launch, from rendering strategy to structured data.

Pink light waves flowing across a dark background

SEO is often treated as a content problem, but plenty of great content never ranks because the site underneath it is hard for search engines to read. This is the checklist we run before every launch.

Render on the server

Static generation or server rendering for every indexable page. Search engines can run JavaScript, but they do it later and less reliably. If the content is in the initial HTML, you never have to wonder.

Get the metadata right

Unique titles and descriptions per page, canonical URLs, Open Graph images with absolute URLs and a sitemap that only lists pages you actually want indexed. Small details, but they compound.

Measure real performance

Core Web Vitals come from real users, not your laptop. We watch largest contentful paint and layout shift in the field after launch, and fix the worst templates first.

For Skyfold, compressing hero media and removing render-blocking fonts moved the site from page three to the top five for its core search terms within a quarter.
